TomTom 3 wired receiver

Right guys, after finally getting some decent software I am still having problems with my new toy.

All software is installed and seems to work fine. Trouble is I am not getting a signal from my receiver. When I first plugged it in the light was flashing red, but after a while it started to flash green. Even then tho it still said 'no GPS signal' on the unit. Took the car for a drive, the receiver flashed green most of the time, ocasionally going back to red. But still no signal in the PDA ?

Should the light flash green ? Is this the sign of a weak signal ? I would have thought a solid green light would indicate full signal. The receiver does look quite old, could it be the magnet is kaput ???

Any advice greatly appreciated
