Default date reset problem with TT7 on Mio 168

I have a Mio 168 running windows 2003 SE. I've just moved from TomTom 5 to TomTom 7 which is working well except that.....

a couple of minutes after getting a satellite fix, it changes the system date to 18th Dec 2029. It usually changes the time to an hour earlier too (something to do with being on BST previously I expect).

Does anyone know what's happening and how to prevent it?

cheers

(originally posted in the Mitac forum but I suspect the problem is to do with TomTom so I've copied it here)
