Exclamation TomTom Sat Nav 3 Setup cant recognise the SD Card?

hi guys,

just bought the tomtom 3 with wired gps receiver from www.totalpda.co.uk.

Installed the tomtom sw onto the ipaq 3850 via IR ok.

Tried to installed the maps (2nd steps)...it cannot find the drive...

2 options (Pocket PC or other (which then offers another 2 options Memory Card or Folder on PC)). When select memory card, it coms up with the error "Cannot find the drive)...

I guess this could be that the setup program is looking for the SD card directly, and I do not have a memory card reader on the laptop.

So any ideas I can use the setup program to get the maps onto the ipaq? (my laptop dont have bluetooth either).

You can see the Storage Card using the ActiveSync so I am a bit stuck...

Any ideas?

Dan.

Welcome to our forums.
When you first get asked "PPC or other" select other and dump them to a folder on your hard drive. Then you can use the EXPLORE button in Activesync to copy them to the SD card.

i have established the connection via IR, would that be ok? Also I am using copy and paste using explore button in activesync, would tomtom pick it up this way?

If you are doing the full UK map @ 101MB it may take some time through IR. Using copy and paste will be fine...just copy the Great Britain folder to your SD card.

thanks Charlie, i have tried the 16M map, it seems ok copying, will take it out for a road test...

it seems a bit strange/lack of flexibility that the tomtom set up cant detect the SD card in the ipaq...it would be nice to have that as an option rather than install to hard disk then copy OR having relying on everyone have a memory reader on their laptop

thanks will let you know how i get on...

Under normal circumstances it will detect the SD card and install straight through.Try another card if possible and see if it's detected.

So now i need to borrow my friends laptop with the memory card reader to install that way not ideal...

That's strange...are you docking the iPAQ on a cradle or a sync cable?

Try synciing through the cable...you might find the maps will go over then.
