Default No GPS Signal?

I have recently changed PDA's from a Ipaq 4150 to Toshiba E800 Wifi. Everything used to work fine with the Ipaq 4150.

I purchased a new TomTom car holder as the one I had for the Ipaq 4150 was incompatible with the Toshiba. I can install the software onto the Toshiba fine, but when conntected to the GPS reciever, using the new cables supplied in the car holder kit, I am unable to get any GPS signal. Any ideas what is causing this? The physical placement of the GPS receiver in the car has not changed so this should not be problem.

Is this something to do with the activation of the TomTom software? I have confirmed and told the TomTom software that I'm using the correct type of GPS reciever. In this case the small, wired diamond shaped one.

Cheers,
Andy.

Can you confirm what settings you have selected in GPS Status?

It's currently set to use "TomTom Navigator GPS" in the first drop list and "Serial Cable on Com1" in the second.

Thanks.

Which car kit are you using and is the GPS receiver showing a green status light?

I'm using the official tomtom car holder kit for the Toshiba E800 which I got from the TomTom online web store.

Just checked and the GPS reciever has got a green light.

Is there a tick in the box to the left of you settings in GPS Status?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit stumped to be honest.

Yep, the box is ticked.

I'm starting to think I might have a duff cable?

I've logged a call with tomtom direct, but I don't hold out much hope of getting it resolved.

Just for everyones future reference.. it appears that com4 needs to be the selected port in the GPS utility settings when using the wired GPS reciever on a Toshiba E800.

Got there eventually!
