Default Lost GPS signal after road tunnel

Hi,

I have to questions about my TomTom Bluetooth GPS paired with my Palm T3.

The GPS is working ok except for one thing. After driving through a 2 kilometer long road tunnel the GPS use up to 5 minutes to find the satellites again. This does not happen each time but about 50% of the times. It is the same road tunnel I am driving through every day. Is there something to do with this problem?

Both my wife and I have a Palm T3, is it possible to pair both these Palms against one bluetooth GPS? I am not planning to use the GPS on both the Palms at the same time but one Palm at a time. This would be great because I could use my Palm when I am driving the car, and my wife could use her Palm when she is driving the car.

Thanks in advance J

Hi,
You will lose the signal after going through a tunnell of that length so it's normal.
Yes you can pair the receiver with more than one PDA.

Yes, but should it take 5 minutes to get the signal back, I understand that I loose the signal inside the tunnel but shouldn't the signal come back when driving out of the tunnel, not 5 minutes after?

It just depends what signal strength is available when you exit the tunnel. It may be that it's a black spot for getting a good reception. Monitor the Status page of GPS Status to see what happens when you exit the tunnel. You need a good connection to a minimum of 3 satellites before you get a lock again.

Ok, sorry if I am being annoying, but I don’t understand this :-)

Let’s say I am driving from A to B through the tunnel. Before entering the tunnel I have 6-7 satellites with very good signal strength on the GPS status page. When looking at the GPS status page when coming out of the tunnel there are no bars visible for about 2-3 minutes, after that it takes about 2 minutes to get the required 3 satellites.

But when driving from B to A (entering the tunnel where I got out in the last example) I have 6-7 satellites with very good signal strength on the GPS status page before entering the tunnel, when driving out of the tunnel I have the same problem. If there was a signal strength problem wouldn’t I have bad signal strength also when entering the tunnel?

Thanks :-)
