Question IPAQ 4510 & Bluetooth GPS connectivity problem ?

Hi all,

I have a HP IPAQ 4510 with the TomTom Navigator 3 and bluetooth GPS.

Works okay (although i find the maps unaccurate), but one thing is really getting on my nerves. And i am not sure whether this is normal, or whether i have a problem.

What happens is, after i complete a journey in my car, i turn off the GPS and IPAQ and leave the car. When i return to my car, if i power on both units, they will not connect via bluetooth (light doesnt goe solid/stops flashing).

To be able to use the navigator again, i have to exit the tomtom navigator program and start it again. It will then connect to the GPS and usually work again.

My question is, shouldn't the devices automatically reconnect and work ? or do i really have to restart the app every time (As it takes a while to load).

I find this really frustrating, another couple of bugs i have with the tomtom is;

1. After using the 'find' option to find a place, you then cant do anything useful with it (ie cannot view it on a map, cannot use it as destination or departure location). Whats the point of this ?

2. I put my favourites in when i first got it, but it will not now accept any chances or additional favourites to be added ?

Anyone else have these problems, or is it just me ?

Thanks in advance, i look forward to anyone elses experiences like this.

Welcome to our forums.
If you just turn the iPAQ off without closing TomTom first then you will need to restart TomTom ( or reset the iPAQ as most people do) as the connection has been interrupted. It's a simple matter of going into the menu and using the EXIT APPLICATION button.

1) Are you talking about FIND in Navigator mode or Map mode?
In Navigator mode you get the option to "Add to favourites", Add as point of interest", Add to itinerary", Nearby points of interest", Reset GPS for this location" and "Set as departure point".
In Map mode you can "Navigate to", Set as departure", "Set as destination", "Add to favourites", "Add to itinerary" and "Show on map".

2) If you select Favourites from the pull-down menu arrow in the top-left you can then tap and hold on them to change them.
