Default No signal with TomTom3 Bluetooth GPS

Morning all...

In the interests of license preservation (or at least that's how I justified it) I bought an iPAQ rx3715 & TomTom 3 Bluetooth Kit with the intention of adding the speed camera poi database to it. Before I even get to that step, I'm having problems getting the Bluetooth GPS working. I can use the bluetooth manager to connect to the GPS, and I've configured TT3 to recognise the GPS (I think) by setting the port to Bluetooth Serial Port Com8, which gives me a 'GPS position unreliable' message in Navigator.

TomTom GPS dosen't show a signal whether the bluetooth connetion is connected or not.

While the maps are very good, I can't get it to find my street while trying to navigate a route. Surely expecting to be able to navigate to any given road without knowing the postcode isn't unreasonable?

Anyway, for anyone on here that may have TT3 BT, if you've experienced similar problems, any help would be much appreciated..

Welcome to our forums.
As yet TomTom haven't stated compatibility with the new models of iPAQ and so there is no support for them. However there are patches available to combat the problem. You can get them @ http://www.globalpositioningsystems.....php?page_id=7 .

Ok, I've installed the patch and selected TomTom Navigator GPS & Bluetooth Serial Port COM8 as advised without success as yet. What should the LED's on the GPS be doing? I get a flashing blue LED that stays lit blue when a bluetooth connection is established, which is usually dropped after about 90 seconds. I also get a flashing green LED intermittently.

Do I need to establish a bluetooth connection before attempting to open TT3? Start > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Sevrices > Serial Port > Advanced shows an inbound COM port of 8 and an outbound COM port of 6. I also have an unchecked box for 'Default device for outgoing serial connections: TomTom Wireless GPS. Display the device selection screen the next time an outgoing serial connection is attempted.

I must confess to being a little disappointed that I wasn't aware when purchasing the rx3715 and TT3 BT bundle that the Pocket PC I'd bought wasn't compatible. I'm also a little disappointed in the lack of documentation that comes with the TT3 kit.

That said I appreciate your efforts personally (are you www.totalpda.co.uk staff?) and any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Adam King

The lights on your receiver sound OK, blue showing a bluetooth connection and green shows a GPS signal. Change the settings to COM6 and see if it helps any.
I'm not sure why you weren't informed of the initial incompatibility. Did you order over the phone or through the web?

BTW yes I am staff.

PS - You can find the TomTom user guide in the HELP folder on your iPAQs START menu.

I can't change to COM6, it isn't in the drop down list. I was advised on the Pocket GPS forums to install version 2.0.7 in their download pages, which added COM6 to the dropdown list, but it made the iPAQ woefully unstable to the point where it hung & I had to take the battery out to restart, although it wouldn't turn on until I put it back into the cradle & it went back to it's factory state.

FYI: I ordered via the phone.

Thanks again for your help.

Any news about this topic? I have exactly the same problem (Ipaq RX3715 with Navilock BT338)?

Thanks

Welcome to our forums.
Install the v3.07 update from TomToms site to overcome this problem.
