Question Tomtom 3 sound/voice causes PDA to hang

Hi All,

OK here is the setup i have:

HP iPaq h5550
TomTom 3
Wired Receiver
Arkon Powerd PDA Mount

I was so pleased to get my new gadget.... (OK OK I'll stop the waffle)

When using tomtom3 my PDA hangs (Freezes) on the first voice instruction given. The hang/ freeze is not cleared by the reset button or power button the only fix is to remove the battery.

Now I have discovered that, if I turn the sound off using the turn sound off option within the Tomtom software, the problem goes away ???

No other application that has sound cause this problem.

I have done the following to try and fix the problem:

Updated the PDA BIO
Upgraded Tomtom to 3.03 and then 3.07
Shouted at the kids and kick the dog (gently)
Prayed
Got druck

But none of these helped....

Anyone got any suggestions about how to fix this..... Tomtom support suggested install the latest bluetooth drivers.... mmmm I'm not using bluetooth receiver though... I did as they told me and surprise surprise it's still the same.

HELP

Welcome to our forums.
Only thing I can think of is to upgrade the iPAQ ROM if there's one available.
Check which version is on it now by pressing the reset button and looking in the bottom right hand corner of the screen as it reboots.

I've just had a quick look the Rom say 1.00.13 eng.... I'll have a look on the HP site to see how up to date this version is... or isn't

Thanks

I have just used the HP online diagnostic tool.... when I ran the Speaker Diagnostic test... I got the same hang/freeze... I guess that means the problem is with the PDA.

HP are my next target now )

Thanks

Doug

You could still try the update as HP will most likely recommend you try it anyway.

HI Charlie, I did try updating.... the procedure appeared to work although I still only seen 1.00.13 ENG when I pressed the reset button.... maybe I did some thing wrong ??

Anyway..... HP hav confirmed that the problem appears to be with the PDA and are arranging a replacement ).....

Once again thanks for your help

Have a good Xmas everyone
