Default Couple more daft questions

Hi...daft question 1.
Going up the M3 yesterday, why does the 'regular' display...(arrow following the road ahead,) keep changing to a dark blue background.....no map just ,I think, name of road and an arrow ??
2. If I want to turn off and do my own thing, maybe because I know a short cut, how do I quickly get it to recalculate...is there just one button that I can hit or what ? It just keeps wanting me to sort of turn round.
Thanks. Mike.

1. At a certain pre-defined speed the map will cut out and give you just the arrow. it'a an accident-prevention thing I guess. You can go into preferences and change what speed it the map switches off at though.

2. Depending on the road you're taking, I found my TT re-calculated the route on whichever road I took so long as it doesn't deem it too in-efficient. You should find that if it doesn't re-calculate it straightaway then it will once you've progressed down the new road so far it's not worth turning back.

You could try going into options and telling it to recalculate alternative to see if it comes up with the same route as you
