Thumbs down GPS Unreliable on Dell x5

I have a TOMTOM wired system and Dell axim x5 but cannot get the dell to recognise the gps.
I have checked the settings, unchecked the infra red connection box etc...
I have had the gps exchanged, performed a hard reset on the dell all to no navail.

I don't know what to try next ...any ideas?

Welcome to our forums.
What are you using to connect the receiver with the PDA?
What settings have you selected in GPS Status?

Do you have a geen light on the car kit (below the PDA) and on the receiver?

Have you tried the receiver outside the vehicle?

Sounds like there is fault unless the Dell locks com 1 to the IR but dont think it does. Check start, settings, connections, beam, un check the box.

If that does not work it does sound like either the carkit of the receiver is dead :-(

I recently spoke to tomtom about which pda to get. They recommended the axim x30 b/c it works well w/tomtom. They said that using tomtom on the x5 is difficult b/c you must make sure that you have various (rom?) updates installed. Call their customer service and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.
