Talking ipaq 1710 with tomtom - opinions?

hello everyone, this is my first post here but i'll try and keep it simple..!

xmas is coming and my girlfriend wants to buy me sat nav for the car and she has asked me to pick one but it seems to be a minefield!!!
is the above package a decent one or is it just the cheapest? bearing in mind all i need is sat nav i have no real need for other pda functions like wifi or bluetooth. i have a decent pc at home and a decent mobile phone in my pocket!
i would appreciate any views on this setup, especially if you have one, my next question would be how neat is the installation? will i need 2x 12v cigar lighter plugs or can i hard wire it in? i would be using a smart bracket on the side of my car radio to mount the cradle on but how many wires come off the cradle? is the www.totalpda.co.uk package with a genuine car kit from tomtom and are these neater?

sorry to be a pain for the questions but you guys would know better!!!

Welcome to our forums.
The pack you are looking as is well worth the money and offers a fully funtional package. However if you are only concerned with sat nav then you may want to consider a stand alone unit such as the TomTomGO, Garmin Quest or any of the Navman ICN range as these are dedicated navigation units without all the bells and whistles of a PDA bundle. The installation can be as neat as you want...it is all powered by a single cigarette plug adapter to the cradle which also powers the recevier which is also connected to the cradle. So you have two wires which can be hidden well if required.
