Unhappy TT3 losing settings!

I have just bought an Ipaq 4700 with TT3 Bluetooth. I bought a 256MB secure digital memory card to store the maps. Everything works OK except that when I switch off the Ipaq for more than an hour or so TomTom loses all the settings and preferences (favourites, recent locations etc) and I have to start again as if it's a new installation. I thought this might be something to do with the battery but it makes no difference if I keep the Ipaq on AC power, and anyway the Ipaq isn't losing any other data. Am I missing something or is there a fault here?

Any suggestions?!

Welcome to our forums.
Have you installed TomTom to the main memory of the iPAQ or onto the SD card?

I think I installed everything into the SD card, but I thought that was necessary because of the size. Can the maps be installed into a different location to the main program?
Thanks

The default is for the program to go into main memory and the maps to go onto the SD card. It may not be the cause but having the program installed to the SD can cause problems unless the registry of the PPC is messed around with.

Hope it helps. When the install starts you will be asked if you want to install to the default location...just say yes.

I've done a hard reset followed by a reinstall - default location for program and SD card for maps, but I still have the same problem. All user settings are lost if the Ipaq is switched off for more than a couple of hours. I contacted Tomtom who said to make sure it's set to comport 8, which it is. They've made no other suggestions so far. Can anyone else help?!
Thanks!

You say the iPAQ isn't losing any other data, are you loading anything else into it apart from TomTom?

At the moment I've only loaded Tomtom other than the preinstalled software.

Try putting some personal data on the PDA like a few contacts etc then see if they vanish like the TomTom settings do.
