Welcome to our forums.
You need a cable to connect the two together. If your Road Angel is an older model with a serial plug then you will need our P/N 19579 or P/N 14552 for a models with a PS2 connector. These are not on our website but if you call the sales team they can order them for you.

I used my Road Angel 2 for the GPS source for my iPAQ 4150 and it does work very well, but got fed up with the cables so now use a GlobalSat BT-318 Bluetooth receiver

I will speak to sales office and sort out the lead. DO I need to alter the settings on IPAQ/Tom Tom to get the Ipaq to see the Road angel.

I have the road angel so by connecting the two together I avoid one wire.

Thanks

Steve

The cable I used was made by Holux. Settings for mine were: serial cable on COM 1, NMEA v0183 4800. If you scroll through the setting button on your Road Angel 2 you will see the settings (and same on PPC). The cable comes from the Road Angel then splits into two, one end goes to the PPC the other to the cig. lighter plug. I paid £35 including p&p when I got mine and wished I had put that towards a blue tooth receiver which I ended up buying anyway

As far as settings go my road angel 2 has settings NMEA v0183 4800, 9600 and I think 19200. Any reason why you would use 4800 as against 19200 as surely the latter is faster.

On a purchase note if you already have the full tom tom kit including car holder then the you only need a custom made wire from holux (can't get wire alone from www.totalpda.co.uk) for £15 including postage.

You can't get away with using one power source as the output from the car mount is 5v and the road angel needs 12v (so holux told me).

In the HOLUX instruction leaflet it said you can use NMEA 0183 v2 4800,9600 or 19200 as long as it's the same on the PPC. 4800 worked fine on mine. As for the cable don't know where you got £15 from, they're £30 plus p&p. "a cable kit that powers the Road Angel as well as the PDA and links the two together for sharing the GPS data."

The cable splits into two as I put in above post, the spliter is for the voltage change

The frequencies all seem to work okay I agree. I just wondered whether one was better than the other.

With regard to the cost I paid £15 because I already had the Tom Tom Ipaq car mount. The all in one kit for £30 they told me would still require me having two power sockets as the Holux lead has one lead for the Road Angel and one goes straight into bottom of Ipaq. When you use the tom tom mount the ipaq goes in the mount and you can't insert the lead direct into ipaq.

I have a road angel 2 with the serial output cable, I also have a ipaq 3660 with a serial sync cable both these are female ended cables so i bought a male to male straight through to connect them
i have used the settings discribed here in this post but for some reason i can not get it to work.
i'm wondering if there is something wrong with the cable setup i have or maybe i need a different Ipaq cable

any advice is greatfull
thanks
