Can anyone give me advice about using Tom Tom on an XDA IIs mobile? Do I need to buy a GPS receiver and software. Any help, advice etc would be appreciated.

Yes you will need to buy a GPS receiver and the TomTom software if you don't have it already. A memory card is also recommended for storing your maps, the UK map is 101MB so a card of at least 128MB is suggested.

Well the basic features of all navigation systems are the same, they allow you to plot a route from your current location to another destination. TomTom is the first program I used which is maybe why I think it's a bit easier to pick up and get used to. I can only recommend you visit a store that sells the systems to see and try them for yourself before you decide.
