Angry Out of date MAPS !!!

I purchased the Tom Tom for my IPaq 4150, which works okay, except one WARNING to potential customers, the maps are way out of date.

i travel for work, all around the UK, and the maps are from 2003, which may not sound much, but trust me it is.

I really regret buying it now, and wouldnt recommend it, unless you can put up with maps that are out of date.

When i asked about updates, and the fact a MAJOR road was missing, they didnt care, they just said some other company done the mapping.

What kind of company would be producing Sat Nav, when you dont get ANY updates whatsoever, its not even an option. Its ridiculous.

Shame on you Tom Tom, you let me down.

I'm sorry you feel this way.
It is true that Teleatlas are responsible for the accuracy of the map data that TomTom uses but not true that they don't update them. I suspect an update will be due shortly when the latest version of Navigator for PocketPC is released (considering the current version was released almost a year ago). It is hard to explain the reasons why the maps are out of date but if you care to read the report by PocketGPS world about how Navteq operate then I'm sure you'll understand the situation. The report can be find @ http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/navteq.php .
You can of course report map errors straight to TomTom @ http://support.tomtom.com/register/r...NjYWxpLmNvLnVr .

I am also very dissapointed in the non-up-to-date-ness of Tom Tom maps.
My house was the last on my street to be built and we have had a postcode for 2.5 Years. My house is needless to say not even close to being in Tom Tom.
In addition a friend of mine lives in Fleet, they had a postcode change 2 years ago and that is incorrect.
I was in sheffield last week and tom tom kept trying to direct me down a street that has been blocked to traffic for ages, and then when I went a different way kept telling me to go down a blocked street.
I think it is VERY poor of them not to have an update for the maps or at least care that they are wrong.
I have reported the two prblems for which I have details on the above link, I won't hold my breath though.
Matt
