Angry TTN3 & XDA2 Stability?

Has anyone else noticed stability issues using TTN3 (v3.07) with an XDA2?

I drove up to Stafford from London the other weekend, and had to stop in every service area to reboot the XDA2, as it had frozen. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the freezing. It can happen with in 5 mins of starting, or an hour, At speed, or while stopped at a junction. It is worst when in Navigator mode. Map mode is much better - over an hour before it froze, and the GPS status display seems unaffected.

If it freezez, I can kill the app, but I then need to reboot the devide to get it to restart.

Is this a known issue? Is there a cure? I have just upgraded the OS vesion on the XDA2 to the latest (final) version, but haven't tested TT yet.

TIA

Paul

I had a similar problem when I originally got tomtom 3 for my XDA 2 - needed a soft reset very often and a hard reset several times on a typical 2 hour journey. The problem I had ended up being due to the memory card - I got a new card (kingston 512 mbyte) and everything works absolutely fine now.

I too have had similar problems when I first started using this combination. It resolved itself in the end but I think it possibly have had something to do with the power cable jiggling around in the cigarette lighter and coming loose causing temporary stoppages of power. When I looked at the GPS signal it too was unaffected. I've also had people in the passenger seat knocking the power supply too. To this day I'm still not 100% sure what the problem was.

Also I have had a problem with my memory card in the past affecting its use.

I just had a recent problem and have had to hard reset everything but again I couldnt just put it down to TomTom. My XDA2 has crashed before now and Navigator wasnt even running.

I think some of these problems can be caused by multiple things.

Anyway I am a musician and so use it several times a week to get to far off places and find that apart from a few problems/niggles I can definitely rely on it getting me there. I do have confidence in it and if I didnt I would be too scared to use it. If it only worked sometimes I couldnt afford to use it at all.

The only thing I find annoying is that you can only use 5 digit postcodes although I recently bought some add on software to rectify this problem.

Nice one

Mike
