Question Tom Tom Navigator Wired NO First Signel

I have tried for hours driving around trying to get a first signel to the GPS,but with no luck.

E-mailed tom tom, nothing back at the moment, cannot understand why they have no contact number,if so would not have these problems.

My PDA is a dell axim x30,all maps installed okay on a 256mb card.

Bit just stays on disabled.on the start up screen.

Could so one tell me should this change as soon as i get the first signel, which they say takes about 45min and do you have to be driving,or just leave it on at home to find the satalite?

I am so dissapionted,as they appear to say its easy, but never show anything about problems if it does not connect right at the beginning.

please help desparate.

thanks in advance

park up, ensuring that the light socket is powered and the GPS reciever can see the sky (i.e. no good to be parked in your garage !!!)

Click on the navigator screen, click next then GPS.

if everything is set up right you should see a black line pulse across under the PC and Sat symbols.

If you don't then odds on the comms settings are wrong or there is no power. To check the power look at the GPS reciever. If it is a TomTom unit you will have either a red flashing light for no GPS lock or a green flashing light for GPS Lock. If you have the lights then on the second GPS page is the comms settings make sure you have the correct comms selected for your unit.

If you do see the line then give it a few mnutes, first you should the signal strength bars appear in grey then once it's downloaded the reference file the will turn red and you will have a fix.

GPS disabled means you have them on the incorrect ports, is it bluetooth or cabled Tom Tom you have?
