I went right back and installed TT3 with GPS 3.07 and then TT5. Although what I think resolved the problem was the settings in 3.07.
Originally when I tried 3.07 I used SIRF Bluetooth and got signals however even with 3.07 on or off my PPC TT5 I still could not get a signal although I had a spinning wheel.
Now I have set 3.07 to Other NMEA and then stopped the program, starting TT5 and setting the same in setup starts immediately.
My only concern is - am I now using the Holux in Sirf mode or NMEA mode? Perhaps that is not a valid question, but somebody may see what I mean.
Before my 2210 crashed I definitely had TT5 set on other Bluetooth and did not (knowingly) have 3.07 on my machine.

| | ...some further findings...
Having got it working I went on the quest of backing up...silly boy! Only to find, as I am sure others have, that Backup/Restore does not work properly with TomTom installed. Needless to say in trying to get it to work, I had to re-load a few times.
I now find that I do not need GPS 3.07 installed at all. I can only think that it needs it to be installed to get TT5 to work BUT that it must make some changes to the system that are retained on a Hard Reset and therefor does not need it further. I know most people will point to the ttbtdev.dlll being the culprit but I tried changing the registry entry, but it made no difference before or aft.
I did notice that when it was installed and working if I then went in to SETUP in TT5 and made the changes suggested before (that did not work, for me) that it changed the setting in 3.07. I am not sure what I have proved but I do know that: just because the wheel is spinning is no guarantee that going outside to the clear skies will get you a connection.
Well it seems to be working so I will leave well alone until the next time! Now that just leaves Backup/Restore...
Cheers

| | This has been the cause of ongoing frustration for me and I am still unable to make use of Navigator 5 with my XDA Atom and Holux GPSlim 236 receiver.
I can configure my bluetooth PDA/ receiver partnership and get satellite reception using the Holux GPS Viewer software but am still unable to configure in Navigator. My problem is that I am using com port 7 to receive data from receiver but this port is not an option under the 'other NMEA GPS' in TomTom and thus cannot make it work.
It is an option in the 'Other Bluetooth' screen but this does not work either. I do not have TT3 to try and follow previous instructions on this very good forum. Has anyone got any ideas about what I can try next? |

| | It would appear that the majority of you having issues are PocketPC users. I have a Palm Lifedrive running TomTom5 and Navman 4460 BT GPS. I have paired the devices but cannot even get it to spin.. hence, no GPS Found error. I will try the cabled selection tonight to see if this makes a difference. I found an interesting FAQ on TomTom's site... but don't really understand it, someone have any experience with this? http://www.tomtom.com/support/index....+4460&FID=2146
The link is dead now though. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

| | Cant connect to bluetooth GPS receiver I am in need of desperate help please as i have spent days on this and cant get my o2 xda II mini to pick up my bluetooth GPS receiver Holux GPSlim 236.
I am running tomtom v5.210 and windows mobile 2003. Have downloaded Update October 2004 - TomTom GPS 3.07 - Pocket PC which has installed tomtom GPS onto my pda but still cant get it to communicate. I think the problem is i cant assign it to a comport coz when i go in my bluetooth settings i dont have any options to set my GPS receiver to any comport. I am told i need to set it to comport 6. I also tried uninstalling V5, installed V3, removed just the navigator program reinstalled V5 which removed the tomtom gps within programs and still not working. PLEASE HELP!!! |

1. After i reinstall Version 5 again the tomtom gps software under programs dissapears and also tomtom doesnt setup for a bluetooth device on comport 6
Can you please please helpme??????
Yet another satisfied customer! On was on the verge of giving up but this thread of information was what I needed.
I have a holux GPSlim236 and an O2 XDAIIs and have been struggling to get tomtom to pick up the bluetooth GPS device.
Holux's own software GPS Software worked fine and I could get a position lock no problem. I tried setting no beam inputs, cable connection rather than bluetooth etc but still my little (non) rotating disk would not rotate i.e. it wasn't getting any data.
Having read the information here I went to tomtom, downloaded the patch update 3.07 (I don't have tomtom version 3). Installed it. Then removed tomtom using remove program in "system" leaving the tomtom GPS program alone. Then installed tomtom 5 and it worked straight away (tomtom set up for a bluetooth device on com port 6).
Once again, many thanks,
