Hi,

I had the same problem after upgrading to version 5 and have just found some info that's fixed it for me.

First, you'll need to exit tomtom and then start your file explorer. If you look at your SD card where the tomtom maps are installed, you should see a folder called 'zip', (this contains the postcodes).

If you copy this folder and then browse away from the SD card back to 'My Device', (your PDAs internal memory), go into the 'My Documents' folder and paste the 'zip' folder here and then restart tomtom, you should find that you can do a full postcode search.

Actually you missed a point which is worth mentioning...I had not installed the postcodes at all!!! I assumed that the GB Plus Map included the postcodes but it doesn't.

1. Check that there is a ZIP folder on your storage card. If not, install the UK Postcodes from the first Map CD onto your storage card.

2. Once the ZIP directory is there you have a choice; either add an empty TomTom directory next to the ZIP directory, or - as above - copy the ZIP directory onto your internal memory. If you do the latter you lose about 8Mb of internal memory (no thanks!)

When you next start TomTom you should be able to enter full postcodes on the Navigate To > Postcode screen...and for those of you using an XDAIIs/PDA2K you will no longer have a problem entering numbers using the slide out keyboard.

Default great tip

Hiya I followed ur tip put a folder as suggested on sd it works fine thus saving memory. I want to share a couple. I installed maps using card reader and works fine, much quicker than using dell axim x5. I disabeld link sound to speed in sound menu so sound will not break. I am using dell axim X5 CF bluetooth card and holux GPSlim 236 works very well.236 is very good has a battery life of 10 hrs and sirf3 good fix and reception even indoors but need windows. many thanx

Just a quick update on my situation. Have installed a newly delivered copy of ttn5 on my m2000. ttn5 installed on phone memory and maps installed on sd card. couldn't get 7 digit postcode search to work. read this thread and created a 'Tomtom' folder on my sd card. opened ttn5 and hey presto... full 7 digit search. Now all i have to do is work out how to use my contacts to 'navigate to' and i'll be all set.

BTW: I have got the software only version with all europe maps

BA51LF comes up as Abbey Close, Wookey (off Preywater Road) on my T3 using TomTom 5.

had the same issue on an upgrade for m2000 - I just setup the Tomtom folder on SD card and it now works a treat. Whoever discovered this - nice one!

Smile Help my TT5 post code zip file is corrupt!!!

Hi
can anyone help. I have tried using 7 digit post coding for my TT5 upgrade and have created the empty Tomtom folder however I can still only get 5 digit post coding whicxh is a waste of time and money as I need this for my business. On checking the zip folder that contains the 7 digit post codes it would appear to be corrupted. Have tried cointacting Tom Tom but thier customer service is hopeless and don't respond. Can anyone advise whether they could send me a copy of this zip file or point me to a place where I can download it (I assume this is not a legal issue as I have purchased the software already?)

Any help would be really appreciated as I am back to work next week and really need to resolve this before then.

Any emails with the zip file can be sent to robert.morgan7@ntlworld.com
Thanks a million
