Default Tomtom 5 Full UK Postcodes ???

Just upgraded to 5 from 3.1

Bit different Not certain wether i like it or not yet... just familiarity I guess...

I CANNOT get Full UK postcodes to work. Have installed the file from CD1, but it only takes 5 digits, same as TT3 !!

Have searched all the menu's for a "turn on" feature... can't see anything.

Have tried entering full postcodes on many of the address screens and via the "postcode" button, ... same result!!!

HELP !!!!! Must be doing something wrong..

Thanks for the prompt reply.... and the welcome

Have already done what you suggested. Get "postcode" along the top bar, if i enter a FULL postcode, I cannot go any further, as the back button is the only option. As in TT3, If I highlight the 5 figure code, it moves on to "street"

Have also tried accesing the "postcode" icon via "advanced planning" and "intinary planning" same result. Will not accept FULL post code. !!!!!

Getting a bit frustrated now, as I need postcodes for my business

Its all installed on Mio 168 ...

Found the answer. There is a problem with the installation script. If the postcode data is on the SD card an empty DIR named Tomtom must be created. Then full postcodes work fine. Apparently the programme looks for a Tomtom dir THEN looks for other dir's. So without the emtpy dir it won't even bother to look. !!!

Works great now.....

Tried that and it does not happen??? or do you mean to put the DIR within a sub-dir?? I have put the tomtom dir in the root of the SD card "did not work" I have tried a dir in the root of the main memory "did not work" so I am at a loss as to where your dir is sat...

From what I have experienced so far the directory structure supplied on the TT SD card is fine so that when you insert the card into your PDA for the first time it will install all the necessary files/folders to the relevant locations and your postcode search should be working first time. There should be no need to reaarange and of the files on the card in order to get this to work. Are you all using full retail versions or is anyone using the upgrade?

Thumbs up

Just tried to put a new empty folder named Tomtom on the SD Card and this works a treat!

Many thanks

I think I have the same problem. The Navigate To > Postcode screens appears to work exactly the same as the Navigate To > Address screen. Even if I put in a full postcode it only offers me a partial postcode match or a Back button.

I have tried putting an empty Tomtom directory in the root of my SD card (not supplied as I am using the Upgrade) but to no avail.

What should I do?
