Unhappy TTN5 Maps Browsing

Hi

Changed recently from TTN3 (working well) on Dell X30 to TTN5. Tom Tom 3 BT GPS receiver unsurprisingly works fine - navigation no problem.

However, whenever I try to "browse maps" (Great Britain and main road of Europe), especially when not connected to GPS causes the TTN5 application to close (no error messages displayed) and return me back to the "Today" screen.

Has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly know how to stop it?

Regards

David

HI,

I note this is your first post (as this is mine) and found this site through google when I was having problems with my TTN5 - all sorted now (I hope!).
Just turned mine on and "browsed map" and all seems to be working fine when gps is on or off.
Sorry can't be of more help.

Sean

Yes I have exactly this problem!!

Mine also quits out occasionally when on the move using the navigator screen as normal.

Try using the advance planning for a long route, like london to edinburgh. Then use the demo function in browse route, set it to 400%. Mine will not make the whole route without crashing, simply returns to the today screen as you have described.

People have had problems with the HP 4700 and so called memory leaks and Tomtom 5, this could be connected. I think browsing the map requires large chunks of data to be processed so this could be a memory problem. I have tried another memory card same problem...

It basically means I can't use the tomtom 5!

BTW, I have an IPAQ RX3715. Worked faultlessly with 3.07!!

Hmm strange i dont get that problem either on my Jam, due to the software being new there will be bugs will have to see if that is to do with your PDA being a DELL.

Unfortunately I do not have a solution to the crashing but am experiencing the same problem. I have a HP2210 which worked fine on tomtom 3 and also works fine with tomtom 5. My mate has a dell x30 which worked fine with tomtom 3 but has the problem with it crashing and returning to the main today screen, no error message. i have tried my version of tomtom 5, my maps from my SD card but still the same. Could this be a problem with Dell accepting the software? Any help anyone can give would be good before my mate throws the ipaq across the room.
