Bluehagon i can answer a couple of them:
TomTom will only list PDA's that they have physically tested and find to work well with TomTom, i understand that there are a lot of PDA's out there that will probably work to a degree of user satisfaction but TomTom have to be strict as if they say its compatible with XXXX and then XXXX starts to cause problems (tomtom crashing, bt dropping etc) then TomTom are responsible due to they said its compatible.
TomTom 5 was designed to be multi platform ie same version that runs on the PPC, Palm & GO, this version of TomTom does not need to support checkpoint as there is POI database that can be edited and you can add your own POI like speed camera’s. TomTom stripped TomTom 3 of the less used features so that it could be installed directly via a memory card making it easier and far more attractable to less computer literate people.
As for “Do they understand that 1 dissatisfied customer tells at least 10 others?” TomTom have a really good and popular product that is selling well, there support is hard to get through to and that is most customers complaint against the company, i will pass your comments onto tomtom.
