Thanks...why would my TT5 installation take ages (probably between 10/30 secs, sometimes longer...and I'm in the country,) to find, or lock on to the satellites, when my TT3 was virtually instantaneous every time.?
And, what is the easiest way to get back to the PCPocket 'Start' program without having to exit TT5 each time...I need to continually refer to the calendar, contacts and notes and it's very annoying to have to exit each time....apparently.

Dear Mr.T.Tom

I have an o2 XDA2s

1) The installer of TTNAV5 gives me the option to install post codes to main memory, SD card or internal backup store. However the full postcode selection only works if I place the post code file into main memory. On my Pocket PC this consumes about 25% of my machines total memory. Please fix this so that I can locate the Post Code file on the SD card with the map data and free up the wasted resources.

2) TTNAV5 does not fully support my hardware keyboard, when I try to enter numerics the function key used generates foreign characters with TTNAV5 - please fix this. It sometimes works (when accessing the full post codes for example) but not always.

3) Because my Pocket PC has a hardware keyboard SOME areas of TTNAV5 do not give me the option of selecting a soft keyboard. It appears that the code which displays the soft keyboard icon checks for a hard keyboard and if present is disabled. I never use the hard keyboard on my PPC as it is too fiddly and furthermore - when the PPC is in its cradle and I am navigating in car I have to remove it from the cradle to use the hard keyboard whereas in TTNAV3 I could simply use the soft keyboard in cradle. Also removing the PPC from its cradle disconnects my wired GPS receiver! all very frustrating...especially when the hard keyboard is not correctly supported. The strange thing is that in other areas TTNAV5 automatically assumes I wish to use the soft keyboard ... odd logic there.

All together an excellent piece of software with 3 irritating little bugs which I trust you will fix as soon as possible.

Another niggle from me.
Having just travelled to the North of England and back again this last weekend, I have found the turn by turn voice instructions a real nuisance most of the time. However, when you turn them off, you also turn off the POI warnings, which is infuriating...can we please have a 'no voice' option, but leave the POI warnings alone. (This is where Checkpoint comes into its own...two lots of pre progammable warnings)

To me, another big plus of TT3 was the ability to be able to program each Navigator page to suit your own preferences...very useful when driving...and knowing exactly that the first page turns the sound off...or turns the 3D map over...now, you invariably have to take your eyes off the road and remember where each item is and on what page etc.

One last point..for the present...I have already commented on the fact that the , so called , instruction manual is next to useless...(we're not all brain surgeons,).. and the on line 'manual' is equally as bad. No where, for example, does it explain exactly how you store a POI.....I came across a new speed camera and at 40 mph you don't have a lot of time to fathom out....'how do I save that one then ?'

Have been using TomTom Navigator for over two years, the support of TomTom is non existant and I am seriously considering going over to Navman when it starts supporting my truly fantastic i-mate Pocket Pc pda.

The customer service line is never working, the email service is pathetic and the whole organisation need to get a grip of their organisational skills to ensure people don't leave TomTom

There are now many different players out in the market place and I have been SO impressed with Navman, I purchased a BT 4100 GPS unit - brilliant kit and absolutely brilliant support - polite, friendly, efficient and you can GET THROUGH to them - real, helpful people who actually HELP you !

I can't wait to leave being a TomTom customer.

1) Re-iterate the problems with getting today screen up, whilst TT5 is running.
2) Why only 40 additional POI files allowed?
3) how can you add in your own sound files as poi warnings?
4) Why does the speed warning stay on until you are at least 5 miles slower than the setting. In TT3 it came off as soon as your speed dropped below the set limit.
5) Why is there not a single hardware button assigned to adding in a poi?
6) Why has the facility to select items in map browse and edit/navigate to/find propoerties/delete etc been removed. This was a really useful feature in TT3.
7) When will the SDK be released so that we can enjoy checkpoint with TT5?

I used TT3 everyday in my working travels of @36,000 miles per year. It was very useful however the upgrade to TT5 has removed a lot of the functionality that I liked.

1. Are there N American maps available for TT5 or not ? (For sale in the UK ? , or US only ?)
2. It would appear that there may be bugs in the TT5 upgrade version viz the full retail package. Are there any plans for 'fixes' in place ?
3. And what is the deal with Navteq...have we all wasted our money ?
4. Why is support so difficult to get from TT ?
