It's the speed at which the data is transferred from the GPS receiver to the PDA. In most cases 4800 is enough but different receivers use different speeds.

Hi, my first post!

...So, the higher the better or is there any risk of loss with let's say 38400 compared to 4800?

There is a set speed at which each recevier is designed to transmit at so upping the speed wont always make it better.

Thxs, what I am saying is that if you have to choose between two receivers but one has a Default Baud Rate of 4800 and the other of 38400, if other than this they are absolutely identical, then the best choice is the 38400, right???

Hi Steve and Charlie.
Could this be related to why I loose fix on my TTN BT (+ Ipaq rx3715), is there any settings to be changed? TomTom help line told me to install v3.07 driver but my PDA says its already on. I have sofar used the TTN3 relatively little but reliability has not been that great and I would certainly not use it without any paper maps as back-up. Hope that TTN5 will be better but I still think that there is a weakness with the TTN BT (see my other posting 29.7).

Try it at 4800.

Safe speed and always works for me.
