I'm not 2 sure but I think that you can pretty much have the receiver anywhere in the car. The receiver is very light and compact but I would recommend putting it near the windscreen where it has direct line of sight with any satellites (although this is not 100% necessary). As with all electrical componants, I wouldn't recommend putting it on the roof of your car. What if it starts raining? (or what if some toerag steadls it at the lights)

Thanks lupos0_1,
my car has reflective glass that blocks satellite signals, I currently use a laptop based system with BU-303 USB receiver I often stick this on the roof with the inbuilt magnet esp. in poor signal conditions.
I can get some signal on the passenger window in which case I'll use a suction cup mount to secure the receiver. Can I do similar things with the TT bluetooth?
What is going to stop it sliding around in the car (or is it a case of a bit of DIY with velcro?)

Also surely any good GPS receiver these days is water proof ??

The GPS has the new Sirf 3 GPS chipset and should get a lock without being in line of sight to the sky, ie put the GPS in the glovebox or in the boot etc and you might still get a lock. If i am right the GPS is not magnetic but you could use velcro to stick to anywhere in the car.
