Default Dell X5 and TT5

I realise that the Dell X5 is not on the compatible list but the only problem I have found with TT5 is that the sound level mutes after 5 minutes or so. This means that I cannot hear the directions or other POI warnings. Why is this?

I have had this happen as well, but not recently, I changed the screen brightness to maximun on external power and I haven't had the sound mute since! it cannot be related, so if anybody else can point us both in the right direction we would both be very pleased.
See my thread regarding hangups http://www.totalpda.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5159 (X5 with TT5 locks up)

See TomTom website on this link for compatibility;

I get this, but only if I shut the PDA down with TT running. When I start the PDA again very quite sounds - if at all!

Only way to avoid I've found, is shut TT every time you need to power the PDA off. A soft reset will also fix.

I have had a Dell Axim X5 (Povket Windows 2002) for 2 years and I have the same problem with TomTom Navigator 5 sometimes going almost unaudible. This also always happens when you switch off the PDA with TomTom still running. A soft reset seems to resolve the problem.

Last week I bought a second Axim X5, second hand, mainly for use with Memorty Map OS. This one is identical to my older example, excapt that it is running Pocket Windows 2003. After installing TomTom Navigator 5, the audio problem is there all of the time with the newer maching, and if it isn't almost muted, it stutters beyond a joke! I have tried downloading a different TomTom voice, but it makes no difference.

Both Axim X5s are the 400 MHz versions. Also, all other programs' audio is fine.

Help please!!!
