Getting really, really peeeed off with TomTom now The patch didn't work for me, Nav5 (running on IPAQ4700) still won't exit and freezes the PDA. A reboot often results in TomTom restarting as well! Headed up the motorway the other day and the bloody thing kept telling me to turn right in 50 metres!! I was showing a full 'quota' of satellites as well so it weren't that causing the problem. Today (again with about 80% sats showing) it decided to start spinning round in circles. It changes the backlight settings randomly when I exit (or should I say TRY to exit).

I'm about to further persecute my brain by trying to get through to TomTom on the phone to see if they have any sensible suggestions as to how I may get their software to perform properly!!

No, it does not work.
I have been trying to get ttn5 to work with my leadtek BT gps for 6 weeks now with very little help from tomtom.
Nothing I do makes it work. The program refuses to believe that there is a gps receiver there no matter what cinfiguration I try.
It worked fine (and still does) with ttn3.
I am now at the point of trying to get a refund on ttn5 but tomtom are blooming hopeless at replying.

Does anyone know if the POI problem is also fixed? Is this related to the VGA issue?

Same here :-( However I have found a solution to this that does not involve resetting the XDA whilst driving. When it freezes I pop the sd card half way out and straight back in again which "seems" to unfreeze it. This suggests to me the problem lays in the XDA's ability to read from the info on the card (I did notice that lock ups tended to occur after a change from the route etc more so than when not) I have tried copying all the info on the card to several different sd cards with the same result, so I do not believe it is the actual card, but rather the software.

If anyone tries this it is obviously entirly at their own risk and I accept no responsiblity for the consequences.

BTW does anyone know what the difference in the 5.12 patch is compared to 5.10?????????

Hope this is useful and would appreciate some feedback, maybe we need to collectivly put some pressure on Tom Tom to resolve these issues. I can honestly say if I knew what I know now I would have purchased another navigational software solution......not happy at all with the unreliability of Tom Tom on the XDA

Hi Jamera, go to www.tomtom.com and then click on the support button. Then on the left side click on product support. Choose a question and then go to the bottom of the page. There should be a section that allows you to send an email if the answer has not solved the problem you are having.

Good luck

I know what you mean. Their support is absolutely rubbish via email. I believe that it is best to contact them via telephone but even this can be a bit of hit and miss. You will receive a reply (eventually) but don't expect too much help / detail.

Let me know if you require the number.

Regards

Why should i download this update (TomTom Navigator 5.10) ?
This update should be downloaded in the following cases:

  • If you have been having problems with NAVIGATOR and the phone functionality of your PDA
  • If you have been having problems with NAVIGATOR and 3rd party (non-TomTom) GPS devices
  • Improved support for devices with VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels)

Also

PDA Navigation:

The new update version 5.10 is available from www.tomtom.com/3361

This version will fixed the following issues:

1.The TT BT GPS and third party GPS configuration issue.

2.QTEK 9090 and clones keyboard issue

3.IPAQ 4700 freezing after 15 mn or closing the application

4.The call handling on PDAs with integrated phone

5.Exiting Navigator turning off bluetooth

6.Dell X50V freezing issue

7.The IPAQ 6340 with the message "No GPS device" when flight mode is on.
TT5 hangs, installed 5.10, tt version still shows 5.000 and navigator still hangs as soon as i try to use chechpoint.

Can you help.
