Default Copying Tom Tom 5 to storage card

Forgive me if this topic has been raised before, but I have just aquired Tom Tom 5, and the initial impressions are good. However, I have a 1GB storage card in My XDA IIi with all my data on, which I have to take out when I want to run the navigation.

I have a huge amount of free space on this card, and would like to copy the data from the Tom Tom card to my 1GB card. Is there any way that this can be done? It will be a pain changing cards, and I have no doubt that it raised the potential for one of them to get lost.

Your help would be appreciated.

AWB

If you connect your PDA to a pc, copy all of your tomtom onto the pc, then change cards and put all the tomtom info back onto your 1gb card. This way you should only need the one card and have a spare one for emergencies

Tried that but it did not work. I did a back up with the card in, and then a restore (having put the 1GB card in) but when I tried to intiate the program, it could not find the map data.

is there something that perhaps I needed to do? It certainly has not worked.

regards

AWB

I have the same problem - copied all the files on the SD card to my PC then copied them all back to a Compact Flash card but if I try to run TomTom with the original SD card removed all I get is "no maps found".

Anyone got any suggestions on this?!

you could use explore device and search for your storage card, copy all the data into a folder on your pc, swap cards and copy data back to new card.
I used a card reader to copy nav5 and works fine.

Nah - didn't work - I now have a folder on the CD card named TomTom, and all the files from the original TomTom SD card are in that folder. If I remove the SD card and run TomTom it simply tells me "No Maps Found"!
