Default Can't install Navigator 5 upgrade

Help! TomTom support seems to have gone away, or more likely, are swamped. Customer19/07/2005 03.36 PM Trying to install Wired Navigator 5 upgrade to my Palm Tungsten T3 from the from Application/Manual CD. Comes up with "Could not find the Palm Installer library InstAide.dll"

After the initial error message if I try to proceed, comes up with:
FileD\nvapp\tomtomgo.man
Line 0
Error:Could not read menu file

When trying Autorun, tells me my PC does not have the devices connected required by the software. Setup will exit"

My PC is only 1 year old and up to date.

The previous version of TOMTOM worked with it OK.

Having wiped my SD card, I now have no access to any version of TOMTOM

Lightbulb

What's happening is that it's expecting the DLL to be somewhere other than where it's installed (ie in the main Palm folder). This is only supposed to happen if you've put the Palm folder somewhere odd, but it happened to me with the default C:\Program Files\palmOne location. Odd, and displaying a lack of QA by TomTom imo.

Reasonably easy to work around, although finding the answer was a bit more tricky. Kudos to Bertram Becker for several workarounds and helpful screenshots, although it tested my German a bit.

The one that worked for me was to copy the following from the install CD into C:/Program Files/palmOne (or whereever you've installed the Palm application):

Folders:
* Licenses
* nvapps
* palmos
* rsc

Files:
* Setup.exe
* Resource CD.cid

Run Setup.exe from its new location and all should be well.
