Default Tom Tom 5 crashes when I browse the German map

I am running Tom Tom 5 on a Del X50V with 1GB of SD. If I load the German map navigation functions are okay but if I try to switch to "Browse map" Tom Tom crashes. I can switch to browsing the UK and Benelux maps but each attempt at doing so with the German map results in Tom Tom terminating. Has anybody else experienced this problem with Tom Tom 5? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
