Default POI Pain In the A!!!

Hi, Can someone lend me a hand please.

Im using Tom Tom 5 with an IPAQ 1910. Everything works fine except TT recognising POI's.

I downloaded POI edit and saved a number of them to my computer. I am really unsure of what to do next to make sure TT recognises them. Can anyone help me please?

Do I create a new POI in Tom Tom and then move the files over?
Do I need to change the file extensions?
What folder do I move the POI's into on my PDA?

Can somebody please reply with a concise and idiot proof method.

Many thanks in advance

Neil

Hi Skinny,
POI's are stored in the map folder, the files in question are *.ov2 and the corresponding *.bmp file. When copied over to the map folder they should then appear for selection in the POI section in Tom Tom.
Hope this helps

Thanks Richard much appreciated.

One more issue Im now having is when I move the .ov2 and .bmp files into the map folder it wont recognise the .bmp file and it appears on my TT as a red square. This is relatively minor as the POI's are still there, but it would be handy if I could link the .ov2 and .bmp files rather than looking at a sea of red boxes. Any ideas?

TIA
Skinny

Hi Skinny,
I had the same problem after importing some poi's, namely some Argos poi's, the argos logo didn't show on the map or the list. I had a look through the bmp's and noticed that the bmp file name was not exactly the same as the ov2 name, I just corrected and it was cured, I think you may have the same problem. If not, this may be one of the many problems with TomTom 5. I have gone back to using 3 a much better product in terms of reliability.

Just a thought, are you sure that the bmp's are working ok, just check them in windows image viewer or your pda's viewer.

Regards
RichardG

Thanks Richard,

It seems the .bmp's are all the same. Oh well, I'll stick with the red squares. if they beep they are camera's if not they are something else

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it

Cheers

Skinny
