Unhappy TT5 & Palm T3 problems

Have looked in FAQs & nothing covers this problem.
I started using Tom Tom Navigator 5 supplied on a SD card 2 wks ago. Fine to start except that it took some time to connect the TomTom BT GPS device and sometimes refused.
Downloaded and installed a patch from TomTom site. GPS connects better, but I can't get a full screen view and the T3 only stays on for 3 mins before switching off which means 20 x 2 on/off presses in a 1 hour journey - not v. safe. TomTom Support say not their problem - it is a battery/PDA thing, but didn't happen before I installed their patch. Are they right?

Just a thought but have you got the PDA set to shut down after a certain amount of time to save the battery. I know that shouldn't happen when tomtom is working but you could try disabling this feature to see if it helps.

Let me know how you get on

Thanks for this. I had a look at that in 'preferences' on the Tungsten T3 and it only seems to allow a choice of 30secs, 1,2 or 3mins maximum. I couldn't find any way of disabling this. The annoying thing is that it worked fine when I started using Nav5, stayed on for 2-3 hour journeys etc. The problem only arose when I used the update.
Any ideas?

Oh!

I just posted a similar question, did you ever resolve this?

Surely there is a way of disabling this feature. I haven't got a Tungsten so can't really speak from experience tho.
