Smile New tomtom menus

Hi there,

Anybody out there ever wanted to change the menus that tomtom decided on. (for example why would anybody want traffic on the first page if the PDA can't even connect the their Plus service???????????)

Now you can. I have found a site that allows you to change the menus to whatever you like. There are instructions and even some example menus to choose from.

Just follow the link below and happy navigating:

I have just used created my own unique tomtom menus using the website above. It works a treat but if anybody needs any help, please let me know.

I,m suprised that nobody else has posted a response about the new menus. I must be on my own when i believed the menus could be organised better.

I have created my own - primarily the movement of the exit to the first page, and a few other things that I used most often promoted to higher pages, but kept the bulk of it the same, and added the unreferenced properties pages to the end of the preferences page. The skux site is pretty cool, if not a little slow to use because of the scrolling up and down. I even managed to add the CheckPOInt menu into my modified version too.

Cheers,

Steve.

I know what you mean about the site and the menu options. Likewise the main bug bear for me was the exit application and clear route not being on the first page.

Good idea to customise but I can see new users having problems and not backing up before they try. Not the best idea for us in support when you advise customers to navigate to pref 4 out of 6 and click on GPS status when they have prob moved it somewhere else :-(

good point stevie, but one easy thing to remember is that all you have to do to go back to the old menu is delete the sdkregistry you have created. If someone is able to put the new menus on, I'm sure they'll be able to get them off again as it is so simple.;-)

TomTom allowed these types of modifications on purpose. They are hoping a more open system for developers will draw in more people. If TomTom's own support has issues with this, then they might want to ask their development team to add a type of DEBUG Mode which will give the users a non-configurable set of options that support is familiar with.
Just a thought.

Yeah good point StuBee, i don't know how much TomTom are letting or if programmers have just exploited leaks in the program. None the less I think it’s a nice idea but for techs it could be a headache
