Angry Tom Tom Wired Problem

I am using a Toshiba e350 with TT wired reciever and have just upgraded to TT5 from TT3.1, my problem is that it can't find a gps signal. Can anyone tell me what my problem might be ? I've set it to TT wired, but nothing.

took this from another post, see if it works for you.
You need to disable BEAM for it to work.
Tap on START --> SETTINGS --> CONNECTIONS --> BEAM then tap the box to remove the tick then try TomTom again.

Does it see any Satellites at all in the GPS menu, i had the problem of Satellites but no Lock or GPS Signal not valid in the Map, took about 45 Mins and a Hard Reboot of my Ipaq to get it going to Sync, that was just before i was going to Throw it out of the window, i am glad i didnt as once you get it running its a releif, Have you checked Tom Tom for any updates?

What sort of car nis it you drive? Some cars have a reflective screen that stops the signal from getting in.

I too have suffered this on many occasions and even considered taking Tom Tom to court for false advertising as they state that its 10secs warm (left switched on) for GPS signal and upto 45 secs for a cold (from switcing on) lock to be obtained. But since i wouldnt know where to start or afford to then I can only complain here. What i could do was run a couple of tests.

Test 1, me and a m8 sat in my car me with a wired and my m8 with his bluetooth.

This was conducted 4 times over the day to see what results we would get.
From cold.

Wired 0800 hrs came on at 0810 hrs (note ipaq showed that it had located 7 sats and 5 were at full strength 2 around half but could not lock on)

Bluetooth 0800 hrs came on at 0801 hrs

Wired 1000 hrs came on at 1002 hrs
Bluetooth 1000 hrs 1000 hrs

Wired 1300 hrs came on at 1046 hrs with 2 hard resets
Bluetooth 1300 hrs came on 1301 hrs

Wired 1600 hrs came on at 1603 hrs
Bluetooth 1600 hrs came on at 1601 hrs

Wired 1800 hrs came on at 1804 hrs
Bluetooth 1800 hrs came on at 1802 hrs

The above test was both ipaq and bluetooths and wired receiver switched off.

The next test was next day at work and it was to leave both the bluetooth switched on and the wired left on and to plug the ipaqs into the cradle with the same pre planned route and see how long it was before picking up a locked sat signal.

Wired 0900 hrs signal locked at 0900 hrs
Bluetooth 0900 hrs signal locked at 0902 hrs

Wired 1100 hrs signal locked at 1101 hrs (even though my wired light showed green)
Bluetooth 1100 hrs signal locked at 1100 hrs

Wired 1400 hrs signal locked at 1430 hrs hard reset and repower or wired device.
Bluetooth 1400hrs signal locked 1400 hrs

Wired 1500 hrs signal locked at 1500 hrs
Bluetooth 1500 hrs signal locked then lost then locked then lost this continued till we had driven for 30 mins

Wired 1800 hrs signal locked 1800 hrs
Bluetooth 1800 hrs signal locked at 1800 hrs.

As for signal loss throughout the day whilst driving all I can say is that the wired lost it signal more times than the bluetooth and for longer periods.
