Default TomTom 5 & Yakumo Delta 300 GPS

I've had to hard-reset my PDA (same as Mitac Mio 168) with built-in GPS. Originally it had TT3 with update installed. I upgraded to TT5 and all worked fine. I've tried re-installing TT5 but cannot get a GPS signal (just a rotating black/yellow icon). My GPS settings are all correct. I've tried the TT3 and update re-install with TT5 over it, deleted it and tried TT5 on it's own, but no good!

I don't understand why it isn't working any more. Anyone out there with a solution please? Everything else works OK.

Hi there

Same set up as mine,, this is my settings that i emailed earlier. These work for me..

Launch TT5
click on “Select Change Preferences”
then locate and click on “Show GPS Status”
then click “Configure”

In this section, you will be able to configure the GPS sat nav receiver for use with TomTom 5

In “Specify GPS Hardware”, select “OTHER CABLE NMEA GPS”
Set BAUD RATE to 4800
In Connected to: select “Serial Cable on SP2”
That will then take you to GPS status display,, select “DONE”

NOTE: You will need to be in view of the sky to receive a signal to your GPS (it works indoors sometimes if close to a window). In this window, you will now see the satellites starting to appear on your display, give it a minute or so to find all the satellites. You will see a vertical band of grey; these will turn blue when the satellites are locked into the receiver. You can now select done and this will take you back to the main TomTom 5 screen. Your set up should now be completed.

Thanks for the info, but the settings are not the issue as they are correct. The unit has now been sent to Yakumo in Germany for testing/repair. It isn't a settings issue, something else seems to have happened as a result of the hard reset. According to one main supplier in the UK, this has been know to happen before on some units where the GPS function stops after a hard reset and they too have to send units back to Germany.

So BEWARE anyone hard resetting their Yakumo Delta 300 . .this could happen to you.

Ahoy all . . .

My PDA problem update and solution as follows:

Finally a solution to my PDA problem. After Yakumo arranged to collect my PDA by UPS courier and return the unit to Germany it was discovered that the mainboard was fritzed. A new mainboard was fitted and the unit returned by UPS courier all under guarantee.

Well done Yakumo. Ich bin ein happy bunny! Even though I bought the unit on eBay, as long as there is a valid reciept, there's no problem. All is working well again.

Mind you, the first time it was sent back it had the German O/S installed instead of the English one, so it went back again and that was also resolved free of charge.
