| | Sat Nav noise ? Does anybody else suffer from a background, sort of, buzzing when their sat nav is running ? I am running TT5 on an HP4150 and with both the sound off on both the radio and IPAQ, I put the background buzzing down to the car, but tonight , with my ear pressed to the IPAQ realised that it's coming from the 4150 ! It's not really not that annoying except that now I know it's there, I'm now listening out for it...which is annoying !! When the car is stopped, the noise stops, but once I'm rolling....there it goes again. |

| | is it the vibration of the car, when the car is stationary do you hear the noise?

| | No, it's not the car, as stationary, it's still there, but if I unplug the power from the cigar lighter thing, so disconnecting the sat nav, it stops ! |

| | Hi Mat,
Does the noise change pitch when the engine speed changes? If it does, it sounds like alternator noise (electrical noise). If not I would say it was a fault with the 12v cigar adaptor.
You could eliminate the car by trying the whole unit in another car, possibly.
Hope this helps

| | Thanks...today, what it reminded me of, was the old days of 'dial up connection',when the modem made those horrible screeching noises when trying to log on....although this is much , much quieter ! (ps and engine speed makes no difference) I'll try it in the wifes KA...see what happens. |

| | Hi Mat,
You say that the noise sounds like a modem connection. Don't forget that you have a similar modem type connection between your IPAQ and GPS unit. Could be some kind of interference from your GPS connection and your IPAQ's sound circuits. If it's under warranty get it checked out.

| | Ahoy there!
Just a thought . . I also got a buzzing noise from my PDA from time to time. . turns out it was my mobile phone causing the interferrance. Solution: keep mobile phone away from PDA!

| | Yep, as you may have seen from another post, I am using a 2210 + TomTom 5 and have the same 'buzzing / interferance' noise coming through. I am actually using a Seidio mount (tried two) and have tried it in both mine and my misses car.
However what I have noticed is that the noise materialises when the battery is fully charged and is sitting in the cradle.
I have also tried a friends 2210 in the mount and they also have the same problem.
Seems pretty weird |

| | I hadn't thought of a full battery being the issue...but just double checked tonight and 'the noise' is still there, even with a 85% charged battery ! (ps It isn't the phone either, as I took if off the holder......and the radio is also switched off.) By the way, I run a new BMW 5 series..as if that makes any difference. Amazing how you listen out for it...even though it's relatively quiet...even my wife has remarked on it..and I deliberately didn't mention it to her ! Strange one eh ? |
