Default I must be lucky ... but...

Hello After a wait of 6 weeks from order and finding it impossible to communicate with Tom tom in a way that helped Tomtom Nav 5 arrived safe and sound. It took about 30 mins to install and it worked fine first time { after reading the FAQs which were very good } onto my Ipaq . I then installed the camera jobbie with the new software to make it work with TT5 and again it went first time.
I have however noticed that TT5 running OK and the cam software detects a camera the side and top margins go "unstable" for a time. Is this meant to be a visual "flashing" or is there a fault? I still can not understand the logic of the Tomtom Blue tooth receiver using wired comonent settings but it does work !!!!
Tomtom have a super product which I have used for two years or so but the technical backup via email is terrible. I have found the new software hard to get used to after TT3 but when mastered it is very good.
Saying all this I am very tempted to swap it in for a Navman .. has anyone any comments?

Thumbs down Support is a disaster

Hi, I will sell the cds with Tomtom for Palm OS. I am triyng to get some support for installation but receive only automatic replys. The program may be fine but I want also a friendly (at least)customer service. Due to their misbehaving I returned a brand new Tomtom handsfree set. BTW TMC is much better then Tomtom's one and comes for free. Good luck tomtom users. Alex

In a funny sort of way I'm glad I am not the only one having communication problems with Tomtom. I sold my wife's Tomtom for her on eBay as she just refused to spend the time and trouble trying to communicate with them and it looks as-though mine will go the same way. It is working well at the moment but I shudder to think what would happen it I realy needed help QUICKLY. As you say you need not just a great product { which it is in my opinion } but great backup as well.

I have heard that their customer support has improved in that they allow more callers to come through. PEN is correct tho and you should have no problems with phoning.
