Default Smooth or Jerky ? (TT5 + HP 4150)

Just interested....when driving along, should the map and directional arrow, sort of 'be smooth' ?...or does it usually jump along every quarter,/half second or so like mine does ?

It should be fairly smooth. Make sure you have no programs running in the background and turn off all your POI's. The less clutter on screen the better. You can still navigate to a POI.

Hmm, I have just installed TomTom Navigator 5 on my iPAQ 4700 and the screen updates once evert 3-4 seconds. This makes navigation in towns almost impossible. Dows anyone know what could be causing this? (There are no other programs running in the background.)

Have you got any POI's showing on your map? This is a known problem. Try disabling all of your POI's in the option menu and the map should then move along smoothly.

Thanks Lupos, that was it.
That must be one poorly written bit of code, without POI's the refresh rate is about (I would estimate) 10fps, with POI's about 4 spf! Does anyone know if the bug has been reported, and if a fix is likely to be forthcoming.

Thanks
Tom

This is nice to know, my frame rate was about every 1-2 sec, will try it later and see if turning them off makes it smoother in version 5.21

Presumably you can still have speed camera warnings enabled - just don't have them displayed as POIs?

Absolutely, if you use the warn when near POI, you will still get the warnings and the refresh rate. I know lots of people have reported this issue but don't know if tomtom are planning on fixing it
