HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HERE oops this solved it for me after hrs of searching
mine was a mio a201 and i also got the the voice screen, first off when you do the up date the voices are not installed, i used the celbrity voices as a star you need to browse your pda and do the following
whne browsing enter the main directory of the device and create a folder called voices, in which you copy over the voice files.
when you run the program again you will select a voice from the scroll list but it may hang here again, this is because its trying to look for the map location
so you need to check for the following file:
in your pda my docs file there is a folder called tomtom open this there should be a file called currentmap.dat
if there isint you need to create one, open notepad on your pc and type
\storage card\Great_Britain_Plus-Map\
now this may change depending on a where you have stored your maps and b the name of your map, adjust the above so it matches your folder location and map folders name
now save as, (all files not text) and call it currentmap.dat and copy this to the aforementioned folder.
restart your pda and youll find tomtom should go through the setup procedure.

Have done low level reset and checked to see if there is a spurious navigator.exe in folder 'Navigator' but there is not - any more suggestions?
