Default TomTom 5 and XDA Mini S

step 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5

You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
GPD cab install from device
PIMAddin install from device
wzd insall from device

If you can't install the ttn cab directly from the device do step 2 if it works then miss this out

step 2:ttn use win CE cab manager

Extract the files from within the cab ttn, then insert the seperate files (there should be 3) like this: create a file in
my device-> Program files-> and call it Navigator place data.chk and tom tom navigator in here.create another file in my docs
called tomtom and place remaining file called currentmap in here

For voices put 2 files into program files->Navigator file and these are called navigator.cfg and data05.chk you can download these from here

step 3: ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL

Start up a registry editor (i usedPHM regedit)
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delet the Dword in there and the value and replace them with:
A new DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
And create a new string called "(default)" with no value (I think there was originally a string called redirect, rename this "(default)" if it's there
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.

note: you may have to soft reset after each stage if it appears not to work straight away but i managed to make these changes then saved them soft reset and then went to control panel in settings and a GPS option was there. You'll need this for the next stage!

Unlike the jasjar, the k-jam only has 2 visible com ports bluetooth outgoing port settings these are com6 and com7 so follow this guide to get the -jam working

step 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5

1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 6 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 6 free. Select COM 6 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM (none)
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 6.
7. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.

If you're running an HTC-device (MDA, Qtek, XDA, SPV, I- Mate) with Windows Mobile 5, you'll need to create an outgoing port for your GPS-receiver as well as creating a partnership for it.

Start - Settings - Connections - Bluetooth - COM Ports

Tap on New Outgoing Port

Select your GPS-receiver

Press Next

Select the COM port in the drop-down box and uncheck the option Secure Connection

Tap on Finish

Make sure your BT is on and your phone is on (Flight Mode off), then run Navigator 5. Go to Show GPS-status and tap on configure.

Choose Other Bluetooth GPS - baudrate as specified by your GPS-receiver (or 4800 or 33400) - COM Port you chose in the BT settings part.

Stevie
Tried activating GPS panel as in step 3 with RegEdit but no sign of GPS in settings (connections) tried it three time soft resetting every time still no joy.
Any ideas before I throw it out of the window?
Cheers
Andy
