Why's does WinFast Navigator connect faster then TomTom 5? TomTom's getting slower!
It's been okay over the last 2.5 years with my iPaq 2210, version 3 and now version 5. But lately it's takes ages to get a signal.
Cutting to the chase, if I fire-up WinFast Navigator (GPS utility) it usually gets a signal within 10 secs or so. If I fire-up TomTom first however, I can wait for ages! Try WinFast and, bingo, there's the signal. Any reason for this?
Is it that WinFast 'talks' to the TomTom wired receiver more effectively? I have re-installed version 5 but doesn't make any difference.
And also, does the wired TomTom receiver 'grow old'? I believe there's a capacitor that gets 'charged' and it's this that retains the satellite info. Can this capacitor die or wear out? If so, would this help to explain why it seems TomTom's always trying to do, effectively, a cold start everytime and taking ages to do it?
TomTom's been great. It's now a pain! Any ideas on how I can improve start-up?
