compaq 3950

hi i have a compaq 3950 and trying to run tom tom 5 i have a wired gps unit from tom tom sometimes it works and mainly does not work i get an error message that says it cant wake up tom tom and when it does work it freezes at the map i have replaced my sd card with a 1 gig card and done a compleate install of tom tom 5 can anyone help me or is tom tom 3 the only one i could use if so can any one tell me where i can download from or is route 66 a better option

Ensure you fully close TomTom when shutting off the device. Leaving any satnav ap running when the device is turned off causes the program to lock up, and can normally only be recovered by doing a SOFT reset.
