Default cant install Nav 5 on 2nd device

My brother in law had Nav 5 on his XDA Exec (he bought it, plugged the SD card in and it worked - he doesn't think he registered it on my tomtom, and he no longer has the original packaging, so doesn't have product code)

He bought an XDA Orbit which has Co-Pilot GPS in-built, and kindly gave me his tomtom Nav 5 SD card, tomtom wireless GPS Mk II receiver and user manual, as I have an XDA Exec.

When I put the card in my XDA it momentarily flashes up a tomtom screen, but does not install it. tomtom support suggested the only way was for my brother-in-law to go onto mytomtom and do change of device - but since he doesn't think he ever registered on there its no help.

I did try putting the Nav 5 SD card in an old iPaq that I no longer use and tomtom started to go into the installation process, so I cancelled out and tried it again in the XDA, but still no joy - we cant easily put the card back in his old device to find out codes, because he's in Cornwall and I'm in Kent!

Does anybody have any suggestions what I need to do to make it work? my bro in law has deleted the app from his XDA Exec

cheers
Geoff

To activate you have to go on-line to TT. Your Device Code and Product Code result in an activation code. Your brother-in-law must have done this. You need to do the same, with his existing details, to re-activate to 'new' device.

Should I expect the app to install on my XDA and then prompt for these codes? At the moment it doesn't install on the XDA
