Default TomTom One v.3 "Manage POI's"

I've just upgraded from a TomTom One v.2 to a v.3

I'm trying to manage POI's - the manual (p24) says "The Manage POIs button is only available when all menu buttons are shown. To show all menu buttons, tap SHOW ALL MENU OPTIONS in the preferences menu.

Only trouble is, there is no SHOW ALL MENU OPTIONS button in there or anywhere else that I can see.

Anyone any ideas please ?

Regards,
Dave

If you hit change prefereneces and it shows 6 pages then you already have everything shown.

From what I can remember show all menu was on the 3rd page originally. It may be on the Main menu rather than the preference menu.

Manage POI should be on the 2nd page of the preference menu.

Default No "Manage POI" button

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for your input. My "Change Preferences" screen has 5 pages which according to the manual is correct. I've just spoken to TomTom and they also seem baffled by this one.

Maybe you've got a new v.3 that you can check with ? I would be grateful for any further help.

Background: I had a One v.2 and the POI's have been transferred across when I connected to TomTom Home, but now I cannot 'manage' them

Regards,
Dave

Is manage POI's not on the 2nd page of change preferences?

Default missing "Manage POIs" button

Hi Martin,

No, it definately is not in there. I've printed the full manual out and there is no reference to it in there that I can see apart from the tip to "show all menu options" which I am doing. I've done a 'reset factory settings' and nothing has changed. I do have a "manage favourites" icon but not a "manage poi" one.

Regards
Dave

Hi Martin,

A bit of further info - a colleague has just found something interesting on the pocketgpsworld forum which says that this Icon has been removed by TomTom for this version. Seems strange to take something so useful away. TomTom have admitted that the manual is wrong (on that forum) but the guy at TomTom didn't seem to know.

It's the first I've heard of anything like this. I can't see why they would take it away either as it one of the main selling points of tomtoms.

Have you updated the software on it recently?

Default Missing POI Icon

Hi Martin,

Sadly it appears to be true:

Pocket GPS World - SatNavs | GPS | Speed Cameras Forums-viewtopic-TomTom One Third Edition

may be of interest. TT have been quite good about it and sent me a "fix" which I haven't been able to try yet. I will report back when I've done it.

Thanks very much for your halp.

Regards,
Dave

Default "update POI function"

Hi Martin,

Well, despite all that's gone before it now appears that it is definate that v3 & (I think) v4 no longer support the update POI function.

My correspondence with TomTom "support" brought forth many promises of getting it sorted but in the end nothing was forthcoming so I am no further forward and, of course, have nothing further of interest to pass on to others.

The only suggestion they could come up with was to return it to the supplier as "faulty", which of course it isn't

Many thanks for your help with this which is appreciated. I wonder what pressures we can bring to bear on tomTom to stop them downgrading these devices. Surely when you buy a later model you have some right to expect improvements, not the opposite.

Regards,
Dave

What is it you're looking to do anyway?

You can still add poi files and bitmaps by copying them to the map folder in the tomtom folder and set up proximity alerts through the preferences menu.

There's lots of POI files here and it also tells you how make up your own files.
