Default Can I tell it where to go?

Folks

I am completely new to this technology - having been chief navigator using a map. However, I need to do a long trip across france on my own so considering making it easier with a TOM TOM.

There is a particular route I always use and I often hear people say how the Sat Nav took us every where to get to the their destination.

I would like to know, if I have a specific route I want to use, can I tell it to give me directions according to the way I want to go - not leave the decision to the TOMTOM.

In other words, I would like to use it as a map reader.

Thanks for any opinions.

You can use advanced planning to create routes with certain places as waypoints.

The option you want for trips using multiple waypoints (or via's) is Itinerary Planning, not all the TomTom One devices have this option within the menu structure.
It used to be possible to add the function to the device by creating a custom menu for the units, but recent software updates have resulted in the device crashing when the Itinerary option was selected from a custom menu.

If your device doesn't support Itinerary Planning then consider producing a custom POI file on the PC and install that to the device, if each waypoint is added as a single location and sequentially numbered it should be able to use this to force a route the way you want the device to take - Mike
