Default Restore Favourites

I have purchased, downloaded and installed an updated map to my TT 1 v3. In so doing it deleted all my favourites. I think I have a backup on the PC and assume I can access it via Home, but I don't want to launch it without taking care not to overwrite my new map with the old one. Will it give an option just to install the favourites?
Many thanks

Have a read of This which I posted a while ago it details how to convert your old favourites file to a custom POI file which is a far beter and more reliable way to store regular locations - Mike

Thanks Mike - I've found and copied MapSettings.cfg and also downloaded POIEdit -- I'll have a go and post back - Roger

OK I've got there but there were a couple of snags. Firstly you say "go to your map folder on the device and copy the "MapSettings.cfg" file from your map folder on the device to the PC". In my case "MapSettings.cfg" on my TomTom is empty - that's the problem, installing the new map deleted the cfg file. What I had to do was take it from the backup on my PC. Having done that I've managed to edit and save it back in TT as _FAVS.ov2 as suggested and yes, it works, However I can't say I like searching the POIs instead of the Favourites - I have to choose between "POI near you" which lists them by distance, or "POI in City" etc -- there isn't a straightforward alphabetical list (of friends, family etc) as I had before. So I copied the backed up cfg file into TT which gave me what I wanted. Anyway thanks for your help as you got me thinking along the right lines. Roger
