Unhappy Cannot Access Map Update Service

I purchased 12 months UK-ROI map updates for my TT One 3rd Edition in July and the new map installed without any difficulty. I’ve now had an email from TomTom telling me to download a new map. When I click on the link, Home (ver 2.7.6.2056) starts but the update fails with the following error report....
ERROR: 2152398862/#https://community.tomtom.com/shop/ge...censedContent: Error from server: The connection to the TomTom server timed out.
The connection to the TomTom server timed out.
Error code: 2152398862 (NS_ERROR_NET_TIMEOUT)
URL: https://community.tomtom.com/shop/ge...icensedContent
Severity: 1103
Stack:
0. chrome://tthome/content/logic/netutil.js:77
return new ServerError(message, status, uri, undefined, additionalInfo);
1. chrome://tthome/content/logic/comm.js:392
this.cancelException = NetUtil.exceptionForStatusCode(this.request.channe l.status, this.url.spec);
2. chrome://tthome/content/logic/comm.js:278
this.request.onerror = function() { me._done(false); }
(end of report)
I’ve tried having both Chrome and Internet Explorer set as my default browser in Windows though I can’t see a browser setting in Home.
I’ve also found that I can’t access TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems with either browser, though strangely I could get the MapShare to download and install OK.
Cold someone please try the website (I assume TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems is correct?) and let me know if it’s OK?
Any other advice would also be appreciated.

Rather than clicking the link in the e-mail simply start Home_2 on your PC and connect the device with it switched on, if TomTom Home offers an update accept the update, if not simply click the update my device and the new V855 map should be offered as an option to download/ install to your device.
TomTom do seem to have had a number of drop outs recently with the servers so it might be worth trying the above now, if it works great if not try again in the morning - Mike

Thanks or the response Mike. I've tried doing as you suggest. Home says "Searching for updates..." but then eventually fails with the same error message as before. I've been trying for a couple of days with the same result each time. Also I can't get onto the website TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems via IE or Chrome.

I expect this to be an issue with your firewall/ AV software on the PC, you could try switching off the AV/ Firewall then connect to TomTom or give them a ring on 0845 161 0009 and ask them to prescribe a solution - Mike

It must have been a problem with TomTom's website or server because suddenly Friday afternoon I could download the new map without any difficulty. The only snag now is that I can't get the map share corrections to install - at least they appear to install but every time I look back in Home it says I need to download the map share. This has happened before and I thought I just went into TomTom Preferences, Manage maps, Download free map corrections and re-selected what I wanted. Doesn't seem to work now.

There is a known issue with Map Share at the moment, the last reply I have seen on the subject from TomTom customer support was to ignore the error mesaage which will be fixed at some future point - Its not just you thats seeing the mapshare problem its everyone running the latest map - Mike
