Default Loading maps onto SD cards

I have just purchased a Tomtom One, witk UK maps, brilliant, I have now got the set of Western Europe maps, I have a high speed SD card, but the Tomtom says "wrong card" I loaded through a card reader, and everything looked ok. I then trien to load the card using the USB cable connected to the Tomtom, after loading it comes up with many vertically coloured lines.
I loaded in the new 5.42 software and have contacted Tomtom support, but not getting anywhere with them.
Can anybody help

You need to install the application to the new memory card then install the maps.

If you have a new memory card then you need to copy all the contents of your original card to the new card. It is quicker to do this using a card reader.

You will probably need to activate the map afterwards.

Once you are happy that all is working you can then copy the Western Europe maps over. Using "Manage Maps" switch to the region you require. You only have to activate one region and then all the others will be available.

Sorry to be thick! You say to install the original application to the new sd card.
Is that done by loading info from the cd that came with the unit onto the new card via the unit ? Or do i need to load up the origina sd card and copy onto hard drive of pc and then back onto the new sd card via the unit??
2/ The maps seemed to have loaded onto the new card. When I load the original application onto this card will the unit then recognise these maps or do i nee to wipe the card clean and start again. Thanks in anticipation

The TomTom software and map/s need to be on the same card. If you have a new card you need to copy the original card to the new one. Then add th new maps to the new card as well.

Best way to do it is to copy all the files to a folder on a pc then swap the cards and edit paste, very simple.

First back up your originalcard, then restore the info toyour new card, then add the maps, then activate them. As I understand it this is the best way and generally works every time.
