Default Installed US Maps not working Why?

I received a One (UK) version from my wife as an Xmas present - v pleased and working well. We are in Canada on hols so checked to see if I could by the map etc - so have downloaded it and installed it and the One still thinks it at Heathrow..?
I backed the old one up and bought a new SD Card 2gb and then restored to that card prior to the install to the unit.
Any advise as to how to get it to work???

Where did you get the maps from? They have to be the right version, and specifically for the GO - not simply Navigator (which is for PDA and mobiles)

Have you swapped maps under prefs to the US map?

I cannot find the option for preferences...
The model is the new Tom Tom One V2 UK - I downloaded the maps from the Tom Tom site via the TomTOM home software

Tap the screen, and the menu appears.

Bottom left should be an option to change prefs (click this), then keep clicking the right arrow until you find 'switch maps'

Many thanks this is working fine now! - once I found the right place to switch the maps!
Shame the documentation is not clear on all this
Great unit - am happy again - once again no need to invest in the most expensive unit - I have what i need with the UK and Canada for half the price of a 910
