Default tomtom one error - hourglass & please wait

I have a Tomtom One New Edition. Recently downloaded 6.56 application through Tomtom Home application.

When installing one of the updates (two were downloaded) it stated that i didn't have enough room.

I deleted the tomtom one application from the unit and then installed the update.

Now upon boot up all I see after the initial post and progress bar is an hourglass and the words "please wait", indefinately.

I've tried reinstallation a few times from tomtom home application as well as erasing the drive and manually restoring from windows xp.

still doesn't work...

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Problem solved. As it turned out the updater installed the older generation Tomtom One application. Erased the root application files in Windows XP Explorer and re-installed correct version. all is good.
